ABOUT TARBAT VIEW

Tarbat View is a former fisherman's  cottage, magnificently located only yards from the old harbour, at the mouth of the river Helmsdale.  Its southerly aspect provides breathtaking views of the small working harbour, Moray Firth and the mountains beyond.

We are  pleased to offer you the opportunity to come and enjoy this charming, cosy home which is full of character. The views from the cottage never fail to impress.

The cottage has one large bedroom which contains a double and single bed. The large lounge is equipped with a solid fuel stove (coal and logs provided) which provides ample warmth as well as providing hot water.  The kitchen is off the lounge and is well equipped including  fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave.

The bathroom is roomy and includes a seperate shower unit as well as a large bath.

Heating is by off peak storage heaters and an immersion provides hot water to supplement the solid fuel stove.

Towels, bedding, coal, firewood and electricity are included.

The cottage is ideally suited to a couple or friends who wish to enjoy the many outdoor activities that this area of the Highlands provides.  However, a large bed settee in the lounge means that up to 4 or 5 people could be accommodated.

Helmsdale provides some of the finest salmon and sea trout fishing in Britain and permits are available for weekly or daily fishing.  Sea angling is available on your doorstep and an abundance of trout fishing can be obtained in the area.

Other attractions are the endless scenery, virtually empty local beaches, gold panning in the local burns (this was the scene of a gold rush in 1860s) , fossil collecting,  Dunrobin castle and gardens, salmon leap at Falls Of Shin and Harrods of the North, Highland Games and many heritage museums.
